Vince Park plays with a variety of media in his works, but some of the showstoppers are his macabre, dark-humored, acrylic paintings. With a focus on human(ish) form and a ghastly sort of whimsy, this representative few evoke mortality with a chain-smoking sheet ghost with big red lips, naked almost-human bodies dancing with the smoke stream of a skull, and figure who may be “giving up” but who many also be opening a portal into a dark sunset.

But they’re not all grim. There is something funny in “Milquetoast” —the blandness of suffering. There is something ironic in a human dressed as a ghost, smoking a cigarette. And there is something more silly than disturbing about a fish-headed body—not quite facing forward or back.
